Tissues and Issues review

Posted : 12 years, 6 months ago on 27 October 2011 02:51 (A review of Tissues and Issues)

I once worked in a small crafts shop on a pretty non-busy highstreet. It was only myself working there and two women in their mid-30s who were completely unsensible in all aspects of their lives and for various reasons seemed completely unfulfilled by their marriages.

Well so what? The problem is there was a cd player in this shop and while things started quite contentedly with us all listening to the radio all day, one of the women eventually bought in her favourite album 'Tissues and Issues' by Charlotte Church. So every day for the next seven days this 'album' was playing on repeat over and over while these women howled like banshees at the most mundane and uninvolving music i had ever heard. Even coming to this page and seeing her picture brings back a feeling of sickness thanks to that time.

I kept a tally chart which is still pinned to my noticeboard of how many times the album was played and over seven days it was played 59 times beginning to end. I am sure this is a record and not even charlotte churches actual fans actually listened to the album this many times. I thought it was very ironic that it was a Church which led me to believe undoubtedly that there was no God!!

What is it good for?

Posted : 15 years ago on 8 April 2009 05:13 (A review of War)

U2 used to have a point. There used to be a reason for them to exist as a band. You may not believe it but they used to make music that put their very lives at risk! Well this is the pinnacle of that era, when U2 weren't just an empty band with too many hours to waste on their effects pedals.

Nobody likes them anymore and they're a bit embarassing to still have around. You should at least give WAR a go though before you write them off.
